Privacy notice

Who we are
Edgecom Websolutions provides Microfin, loan management software used by lending businesses in Kenya. For the data our own customers hold about their borrowers, they are the data controller and we are a data processor acting on their instructions. This notice covers the data we control ourselves: the details of the people who contact us and who administer an account.
What we collect
When you request a demo: your name, work email, phone number, company, and anything else you choose to tell us. When you administer an account: your name, email, sign-in times and the actions you take in the system, which are recorded in an audit trail.
Why we collect it
To respond to your enquiry, to provide and support the service, to keep it secure, and to meet our own legal obligations. We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for advertising.
Borrower data
Records about a lender’s borrowers belong to that lender. We hold them in a database separate from every other customer, we access them only where necessary to support that customer, and such access is recorded in that customer’s own audit trail so they can see it.
Your rights
Under the Data Protection Act 2019 you may ask for a copy of your personal data, ask us to correct it, ask us to delete it, or object to how we use it. If your data is held by a lender using our software, ask them first — they control it.
Retention
Enquiry details are kept while we are in contact and for a reasonable period afterwards. Customer data is kept for the life of the account and for a retention window after it closes, during which an export can still be provided.
